Trip Report - sorry its late!

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in posting - with Christmas I haven%26#39;t stopped since getting back!

Well we arrived in Boston on 25th Nov - can I just say they immigration man was the nicest I have ever met at an airport!

We stayed at the Parker House - I have left a review and it was a lovely hotel that turned out to be in the perfect sport for getting about - I am so glad we stayed in this part of Boston. It was really comfortable - we had a deluxe room and it was a large corner room overlooking Boston Common. Couldn%26#39;t fault anything.

Got bargins at Filenes and Macys with the Thanksgiving sales. But our best bargins were at Wrentham - we hired a car (thanks to all who gave me advice on directions - it was really easy to get to) and filled the boot!!

Did the Duck tour which was great and really gave us our bearings the first day. We did the JFK Museum and it was absolutely brilliant as were the Museum of Science and the USS Constitution and USS Cassin Young ( a lovely volunteer ther called Chris took us all around the ship and made my husbands day!) Hubby is an engineer and loved the small MIT museum (I was a tad bored!!) and we have a great tour of Harvard albeit in the rain. Walked the entire Freedom trail and its so easy to follow. Shooped at the Prudential Centre and Copley Mall and walked Newbury St and Bolyston St - nice tea at Cafe Sonsie. Only disappointment was that the Prudential Skywalk was closed - never mind an excuse to return!

Many thanks for restaurant recommendations particularly La Summa in the North end - what nice people and the food was gorgeous and huge portions. Have to say Cheers at Fanueil Hall had good burgers. Had great steaks at Chris Ruths but I thought it was a bit expensive for what it was!

One of our favourite places was the bar in the Parker House - The Last Hurrah - really good atmosphere with lots of local workers at 5.00pm, comfortable seats, cheerful staff and great cocktails!

I would definitley return to Boston - even though we were there for a week there were still some things we didn%26#39;t do so we wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to return.

Loved it!

Thanks again everyone for your help

Sarah

Trip Report - sorry its late!

Nice report!! Hope you visit our fair city again.

Trip Report - sorry its late!

Thank you for the interesting report. I am gratified to learn that you enjoyed yourselves.

On your next visit, plan to visit the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Computer Museum, some live theater and, of course, a few more restaurants.

Great trip report, Sarah! I%26#39;m glad that you got a chance to try La Summa--we always make it a point to eat there when we%26#39;re in town. It sounds like you accomplished a lot!

Hi Sue,

It was your recommendation that took us there!! So a big Thank you!

The food was really delicious - the waiter asked us how we had found the restaurant and I told him you recommended it - he was really pleased. Added to that, he had actually heard of Cardiff which is near to where we live and we had quite a conversation about rugby and football at the Millenium Stadium!!! A real novelty for us as we usually find everyone just thinks we are English and we normally just agree!!

So thanks again

Sarah

You%26#39;re welcome, Sarah! I hope you get another chance to visit Boston again. When we%26#39;re in town next time, you can be sure we%26#39;ll be going to La Summa!
