Based on Mapquest..Logan to South Station is 4 miles. You can take public transportation--the silver line from the airport.

advice for 1 night stay

Hi Paul Boro,

The lowest average rate I could see right in downtown Boston for one night was the Club Quarters located right at 161 Devonshire St., for $99. Which if you think about it? Is pretty good for being right in downtown Boston! It%26#39;s 2 blocks from Faneuil Hall, it%26#39;s right in the heart of the Financial District and within walking distance to South Station which is a plus or if you want you could either hop on the ';T'; right at State St station near your hotel and you%26#39;ll be on the Orange line, head inbound and get off at ';Downtown Crossing'; one stop and walk downstairs toward the Red Line%26#39;s Outbound and get off one stop up at ';South Station'; if you want.

OR you could hop in a taxi right at your hotel and they%26#39;d get you right to the door of South Station even quicker.

Make sure you get in touch with one of the following Taxi companies that are Licensed, so hold on to these #%26#39;s in case you do end up taking a cab.

Boston Licensed Taxi Companies

Boston Cab, (617) 536-5010

City Cab, (617) 536-5100

ITOA, (617) 825-4000

Metro Cab, (617) 782-5500

Town Taxi, (617) 536-5000

There are hotels near the airport that are cheaper than this one, I just thought you might want to check out Faneuil Hall while you%26#39;re in town! There%26#39;s an Inn in Revere but it%26#39;s 5 miles from Boston averaging $62 a night called the Revere Rodeaway Inn. Are you sure you want to stay there though! I%26#39;d have to think about that one, then there%26#39;s the Wyndham in Chelsea, that%26#39;s $81 a night and then again, you%26#39;d have to spend more to get to South Station, so the practical and sensible thing to do is see if you can get the Club Quarters in Boston for $99 a night! IF you CAN%26#39;T get it for that a night? Go to www.betterbidding.com and then www.priceline.com and see what happens, people here have sworn by this method, so check it out if you can%26#39;t get that rate!

Good luck and have fun!

Paul,

This hotel Club Quarters is very close to South Station you could walk to it if the weather holds up for you. It%26#39;s not a bad walk at all, just ask the concierge desk for directions, wait until you see how close it is from the hotel!

They have a really fun pub right in the hotel Club Quarters. You might not even have to leave the hotel for the Quincy Market area if the weather is bad! It%26#39;s called the ';Elephant %26amp; Castle Pub';. It%26#39;s an English style pub and is always hopping lately when you drive by it, so check it out if you end up staying there!

Again have fun and enjoy your stay in Boston!

Hi, thanks for the advice regarding the hotels.

I think i will go for the omni parker as the reviews are good and if i join the %26#39;select club?%26#39; on their website i can get a late check out time which i want.

The only question i have now is will i be ok to check-in late afternoon? My plane comes into logan at 5.00pm.

On the reviews it says check-in is 3.00pm, but does that mean you have to check in before or after that time???

Thanks for the advice!

3:00pm checkin just means that the room won%26#39;t be ready for you any earlier than that. Usually, with a credit card reservation, it%26#39;s guaranteed for late arrival, because they will charge your card whether you show up or not. 5:00 pm arrival shouldn%26#39;t be a problem, but if you are worried at all, just call the hotel and doublecheck.

By the way, if you don%26#39;t want to pay for a taxi, you can take Public Transit, the MBTA%26#39;s Silver Line, directly from your arrival terminal to South Station. I realize that a taxi might be easier, with luggage and all, but the Silver Line will only cost you $1.25, as opposed to $20 for a cab.

Thanks for the advice beanman, you are a star!!

You%26#39;ll enjoy staying at the Omni Parker House. Great location, and an historic hotel.

RE; Trains and boats and planes (and busses)

The train to Maine leaves from North Station. But the BUS to Maine leaves from South Station. Just wanted to make sure you didn%26#39;t get confused by the previous post.
