Hi there
I posted previously about coming to the Cape next April on our honeymoon.
Originally we weren%26#39;t going to book any accomodation and just go with the flow but we now quite like the idea of renting a secluded/romantic cottage for the week and do day trips from there in our hire car.
I have had a look at the vast amount of rentals available on various websites, vrbo, weneedavacation %26amp; cyberrental whic seem to have a fair few that are suitable. they all seem to be Saturday to saturday or Friday to Friday rentals- our itenerary will have us on the Cape from a Thursday to Thursday- do you think we will have a problem getting somewhere? With it being off season will it be any easier?
Any other tips/recommendations appreciated
Cheers
D
Off Season Cottage Rental: Thursday to Thursday?
Good Morning Dondo,
There are a LOT of rental agencies for Cape Cod. They rent there cottages from Saturday to Saturday and it%26#39;s not just Cape Cod that does that it%26#39;s throughout New England unfortunately, it%26#39;s also written on there policy online. If you go to www.sylvanrentals.com and click on Policies you%26#39;ll see it.
You can try calling or emailing this particular one to see if it%26#39;s possible off season, but you know? I tend to doubt if they%26#39;ll do it, I%26#39;d be really surprised! You never know though, email and see what happens!
rentals@sylvanrentals.com
Another really good site is www.capecod.com it%26#39;ll give you Rental Agents by Location and you go from there to contact them. It%26#39;s a good site to check out....
www.weneedavacation.com is a good one
also this one....

You%26#39;ll get other suggestions here, so make sure you check back from time to time!
Good Luck!
Off Season Cottage Rental: Thursday to Thursday?
No harm in asking is there? Much better than speculating whether they will or whether they will not!!!
Many rentals are not available during the period of about October to June, they are rented for the winter on a lease basis. You should check the availability charts which are on some websites.
We have been renting on the Cape every year for about 35 years. We recommend it.
Two ideas:
1- If you want to rent a house contact competent realtors for best results and no extra cost to you. If you are interested in mid-Cape beachside Dennisport then e-mail our realtor and ask for their advice. marthamurrayrealestate.com. Ask for Debra. P.S. We only rent from June - Sept. and that is normal, so I agree that the time of year you are arriving will limit the supply.
2- Consider Inns. Take a look at theredinn.com, one of the most spectacular, with off season rates of $150 to $325.
You can get more suggestions here as you continue your planning and a lot of information is already on this board as you have probably discovered. Good luck!
Try checking out the Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast that has a fabulous location in the National Seashore in Eastham. I believe they have a spacious new cottage that has ocean views, is fully heated and has a gas fireplace. They serve a full breakfast, give a discount for weekly rentals and do not have a Sat.-Sat policy. As a bonus, they would be available to ask about things to do in the area. Their web site is www.forthillbedandbreakfast.com
Good Luck!
cheers to everyone for some top advice
Managed to find a few places that are willing to rent thursday to thursday as it%26#39;s off season and we have plumped for a nice looking place in Eastham
Looking forward to it already
Thanks again
Donald
Glad you were able to find a place. One less thing to worry about now....

Try www.wellfleetlighthouse.com
This website has a few wonderful cottages/homes walking distance to the ocean and bay beaches in Wellfleet that are worth checking out.
Some are in-town near the galleries, shops and restaurants, others are in the National Seashore.
Normally they%26#39;re Saturday to Saturday, but in the shoulder season of spring and fall I%26#39;ve found them to be flexible.
There are lots of pictures of each place so you can see where you%26#39;ll stay before you make a reservation.

Dondo-
I%26#39;m happy that I%26#39;m not the only one who always searched for mid week in %26amp; out. If not for the shelter cost savings, at least for the lessened hassle of off peak travel time to and from the Island.
Maybe someone that controls the ';seat of unwritten rules'; will get off dead center and market SOMETHING differently. I have never understood the prejudicial thinking that has lead to arbitrary Sat to Sat rentals. There are a lot of people who work weekends and holidays as a regular schedule, thusly precluding them from the sea of choices that most of us may avail.
I get it....';Logistical lazy poobahs';.
These must be the same people that mandate early bird dinners end at exactly 6:00 pm - not a minute later. Horrors @ 6:01 !!

Have a nice time on the Cape. It%26#39;s a great place to be. Welcome.
ADM HALSEY
ADM-HALSEY, have to agree with you neighbor.
My husband works p/t as a wedding DJ and this whole Sat-Sat rental %26#39;rule%26#39; (that 99.9% of the homeowners follow) stinks for him (us). He loses that first Saturday and Sunday as well as the Saturday we return.
Part of the reason we book a week so far in advance (a year). He gets booked for functions well in advance, therefore we need to work around his schedule. He needs to put for the time off so he doesn%26#39;t get put on any jobs...
We no sooner come back from one vacation and we%26#39;re already planning the next LOL
I can recommend the Surfside Colony Beach Cottages...their website is www.surfsidevacation.com.
The cottages are quaint, very clean and comfortable. They are not fancy, more like old fashion beach cottages. But we kind of like that. No tv...just the surf! Most have fireplaces and all of them have nicely equipped kitchens. You have to bring your own linens, but check with Marcia because I believe you can rent those if you need to. The owners Marcia and Jim are lovely people. Best of all the cabins are right on the National Sea Shore, off the beaten track and nestled among the pines. THe ones closest to the dunes are really great because you can hear the surf. All the cottages are a short little jaunt down to the beach. The outer part of the cape is lovely...very uncommercial. And in April (which is when we love to go) many of the restaurants are opening back up for the season. Great little towns to explore, antiques and opportunities for fun day trips. Provincetown at the end of the cape is a fun artsy town with lots to do and great food...it is just twenty minutes away.
