we will be going for five nights in july and would like to know which hotel is better. hilton back bay or hyatt regency. we are both in our fifties and want some luxury after a days sightseeing. which hotel is better positioned for getting around. thanks
first time in boston
I prefer the Hilton but I also am a Diamond Hilton Rewards member. The Hilton is across the street from the Prudential Center with its shopping and restaurants. It is also convenient to the subway (Green Line). In the end, I think it will be your personal preferance for the hotel chain and if you want to be in the Back Bay or Business District.

I would pick the Hilton too.
Both are in very good locations near tourist sights and public transportation and you can%26#39;t really go wrong with either.
That said, the Hyatt is in more of a business area which means that some of the eateries in the area are only open on weekdays for lunch and the area will be less lively on the weekends. Also, if you%26#39;re looking for luxury, the Hilton is somewhat closer to high end shopping and eating.
While the Hilton may be considered closer to subway tansportation, I wouldn%26#39;t rule out the Hyatt... it%26#39;s closer to the airport, Freedom Trail, the ';Downtown Crossing'; shopping area, Boston Common, the theatre district, Chinatown, South Station and the waterfront.
I will admit a bias based on architecture... the Hilton has always reminded me of a hospital, while the Hyatt is a classically-inspired ';grande dame';... and a chocolate-lover%26#39;s magnet, to boot.
As far as ';better';... I%26#39;d guess it%26#39;s just a matter of taste... they%26#39;re both actually very nice.
I would personally go with the HIlton. I have not stayed at either since I do live in the city and have never had a need to. With that being said I just love the back bay area and I have had very good experiences with the Hilton chain. I am sure you will have great time nomatter which one you choose.
Definitely the Hilton. It%26#39;s much closer to everything. The area around the Hyatt gets deserted after 6.
If you only have these two choices I would definitely go with the Hilton. I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Hilton but I have stayed at the Hyatt several times. I do not like the location of the Hyatt after dark as it gets pretty deserted. I never had any problems walking back to the hotel alone or with coworkers, but I think you%26#39;d be happier with the Hilton%26#39;s location.
Have to add my vote for the Hilton....just a better overall location.
Another vote for the Hilton. The Hyatt is definitely not the best after dark location.
