Where to stay in Boston?

My wife and I are going to Boston in May. Neither one of us have every been there before. Two nights we are staying at the hotel in which her Nurse Practitioner conference is taking place. The other five nights we are looking for a place to stay within Boston. We are open to Bed %26amp; Breakfast or Hotel. Also would like to keep prices to around $200 a night. We will not have a car in Boston, so easy access to the public transit is essential. Also being in a part of town that is reasonalbly safe at night would be preferable. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Where to stay in Boston?

I have been hearing a lot of good things about the Clarion Bulfinch Hotel lately, so that might be a good place for you to check out first. It is a boutique-style hotel located in a building dating back to the early 1900%26#39;s that was just restored about a year ago. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but are clean and comfortable. The hotel is a very short walk away from the T (what the locals call the subway)and the neighborhood is much nicer and safer than it was in years past. Based on the many positive comments I have heard about this hotel recently, I would definitely consider staying there if I were you.

Where to stay in Boston?

Hi Walus,

You know Walus, May is going to be a beautiful time of year to be in Boston! One place that you should really think about staying at is the Boston Yacht Haven at 87 Commercial Wharf for that time of year! It would be fantastic. It%26#39;s showing 237 a night as the average price on this TA site.

If you really want to stick to around 200 a night see if you can stay here! For starters, first go to www.betterbidding.com then go to www.priceline.com. A lot of people here online have said they%26#39;ve gotten rooms at hotels for $80 a night! See what you can do with this bidding process, especially where you plan on being in the City a little longer than the conference! It would really be worth your while.

The Boston Yacht Haven is within walking distance to the North End! In fact? It%26#39;s right across the street and you%26#39;ll be at any of the fabulous restaurants right in the heart of the North End.

The Quincy Market is within a minutes walk across the way from this lovely Inn. The ';T'; for public transportation isn%26#39;t that far either, make sure you check out the ';T'; website www.mbta.com for the different schedules and train connections, especially if you stay here, you%26#39;d be able to get right up to the Back Bay area by any of these train stations here, just get off a few stops INBOUND at the Back Bay Station! You can very easily get to either State St. ';T'; Station, The Haymarket Square Station or North Station, all within a few minutes walk from this Inn.

You should probably browse this TA site for various hotels within your price range as well. This particular one mentioned here by me is just one of many many that you could stay at right in this vicinity. I think where it%26#39;s your first time visiting Boston, you might want to be in this whole area first. Then to get a good idea of where you are? Definitely take the Boston Tour around the City as soon as you can so you can get your bearings around the City!

This Inn I mention here? Is probably one of the most popular places to stay at these days. Instead of a standard Hotel! It certainly would be different for your visit this time and it certainly would make it very memorable! I know when you see it? You%26#39;re really going to like it! Check out the reviews here as well to see what other people are saying about it.

Don%26#39;t forget to go to this site:

www.gobostoncard.com

You need to check these cards out and get a couple of them! They%26#39;re well well worth it. The many different tours listed will be back in the Spring when you%26#39;re visiting and

this site will help you with where to go and what you have to see while in Boston. For instance you have to check out the Freedom Trail, and the many Museums, like the Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Gardner Museum! There%26#39;s the Duck Tour that will be wonderful that time of year! The Beantown Trolley Tour that%26#39;s a must and it%26#39;s all part of this discounted wonderful card! It%26#39;s a deal you shouldn%26#39;t be without while visiting Boston! You%26#39;ll save by having it and it%26#39;ll be well worth it!

Check back here from time to time because there might be other good suggestions as well!

Have a GREAT time in Boston and have fun!

Oh yes, definitely go on either the Duck Tour or the Trolley Tour. We did the Trolley Tour and had a good time. We went around lunchtime and the first tour guide we had was very funny and talked with an authentic Boston accent (if you know what I mean), but part way along the tour, he decided to take a lunch break and another tour guide took his place and he wasn%26#39;t quite as humorous as the first one, but was still informative about the sights we saw on the tour. It is a good way to see a lot of things without having to walk all around town, plus you learn a whole lot more from what the tour guide will tell you, which definitely makes it worth your time and money. I can%26#39;t remember why we didn%26#39;t do the Duck tour-I don%26#39;t think it runs as often as the Trolley Tour does. Either one would be a lot of fun for the two of you.

Not having a car in Boston is defintely a plus! Boston is ideal for walking, things are really located quite close to each other, and there are T stops everywhere-especially downtown. Anywhere you stay in the downtown area, Back Bay, the waterfront, or the North End will be quite safe. I%26#39;ve never had to feel concerned about walking around in the evening in Boston.

In response to your inquiry about B%26amp; Bs, the Clarendon Square Inn and the Encore B %26amp; B are both highly rated by the respondents and posters on this Website. You can review them under Trip Advisor/Overview/Top Rated B%26amp;Bs located in the center of the Overview page. The Managers of these establishments will quickly respond to email inquiries.

Thanks for everyones input on this, it has helped me out greatly. Any comments on restaurants around the Bulfinch would also be greatly appreciated also.

Thanks

The Beacon Hill Bistro located in the Beacon Hill Hotel at 25 Charles St.

and

The Paramount Cafe - 44 Charles Steet Boston.

The Bulfinch has been acquired by the Innkeepers USA Trust as of this morning, so I am not sure if it will remain part of the Clarion Collection brand. I didn%26#39;t realize that that 3 stories were added to the hotel last December and that the building the hotel is located in was built to resemble the Flatiron building in NYC. There is a restaurant, the Angus Steakhouse, onsite. Please feel free to link to this website for more information: hotel-online.com/News/鈥ov05_Bulfinch.html.

For the best prices, go to the message board at biddingfortravel.com to learn about bidding on priceline, and then do it. You should be able to get the Marriott/Sheraton in Copley or some downtown hotels for less than $100 per night. There is no way you could do it otherwise.

Good luck!
