New and Hip Restaurants and Clubs in Boston

It%26#39;s been 2 years since I lived in Boston and will be visiting this weekend with clients. Would love to know the hip new restaurants and clubs for 30-somethings. Particularly looking for Sunday and Monday and places with great wine lists. Many thanks!

In my opinion the best wine list is at Troquet. And in fact the menu centers on wine. Every dish has suggested wine pairings that you can order in 2 or 4 oz glasses to allow you to sample several. They also have a great cheese plate if you%26#39;re interested in going just for a wine tasting. It%26#39;s a lot of fun and the food is great.

Sibling Rivalry has gotten a lot of good buzz. The food is very good. It%26#39;s light and fun and trendy. I think it%26#39;s good for a girls鈥?night out with friends but not for a romantic dinner so it may be good for your clients. BTW, the strawberry mojito is great.

If you鈥檙e willing to get out of the city a bit, Blue Ginger is fantastic. The food is wonderful and reasonable prices given the very high quality and the atmosphere is casual and not too stuffy.

In Cambridge, I like The Blue Room in Kendall Square. It has very good food in an intimate yet casual setting. The Craigie Street Bistrot near Harvard Square has good French Bistro fare in a very small basement setting with few tables.

There are also the standards that you probably already know: Radius, The Federalist, No. 9 Park, Mistral, Clio, etc.

I forgot to mention Spire in the new Nine Zero hotel. Really good food and pretty trendy.

Thanks so much! I visited Troquet several times and each time the service was lacking though the wine was spectaular...perhaps things have changed in the 2 years I%26#39;ve been gone.

Sibling Rivalry sounds like a great option...do love Mojitos!!

Funny you should mention Radius and Mistral as those were stomping grounds!

How is Aquitaine, Les Zygomates and Tremont 647 now? I used to love going there.

I%26#39;ve a few things about The Red Fez...any thoughts?

Thanks again!

Sounds like you know the South End.

In my opinion Tremont 647 has gone down hill a little. Aquitaine is good - great Sunday brunch and Les Zygamotes gets great reviews.

I highly recomend Sibling Rivalry.

There is a new martini bar, 28 degrees, where Flux used to be on Appleton St. You can%26#39;t go wrong with Icarus next door.

The Red Fez is good. Different than all the rest and not a bad Sunday brunch option.

The Franklin Cafe on Shawmut is great.

Sonsie on Newbury Street is good for drink, food and hipness.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences at Troquet. I%26#39;ve always found the service to be good, but to be honest I only ever go there before theatre shows so maybe that%26#39;s part of it?

Hope you and your clients have a great time.

Thanks again everyone...I%26#39;m off to Boston in a few hours. Have a great weekend!

Enjoy and let us know how everything goes.

Thanks so much folks for your suggestions! After all the research, we ended up eating at some Thai joint across the street from the venue because unbeknownst to my client and myself, the sponsor of the show had scheduled him for a post-show party on Sunday and he had to leave on Monday so we didn%26#39;t get to try any of the spots I was so looking forward to visiting.

However, I was able to meet a friend for brunch on Sunday morning at Zaftigs and it was quite tasty and the service was FAB-U-LOUS! We were there for 2 hours and never once felt pressured to leave. My friend had the San Fransisco Joe%26#39;s Special and I had the Macintosh Apple and Vermont Sharp Cheddar Omelette with a side of smoked maple bacon (yum yum) and we split an order of the Banana Nut Bread with date butter. It was the perfect meal for a snowy Boston day!

Again thanks for all the suggestions and I%26#39;ll definitely check them out on my next visit.

p.s. as a side note, some friends and I ventured up to Kennebunkport on Saturday (12/3) for the Christmas Prelude and had lunch at Hurricane...YUM YUM YUM doesn%26#39;t even begin to describe the meal. As usual, the 3 of us ended up doing the communal meal because we all had delicious food - Maine Lobster Chowder, Five Onion Soup and Fall Harvest Soup (pumpkin, squash, cinnamon, nutmeg and cream base...it was like eating pumpkin pie),

Fresh Maine Lobster Roll, Grilled Crabmeat and Havarti Sandwich and Pan-fried Haddock with garlic mashed potatoes and for dessert, we split a Liquid Center Chocolate Cake with Homemade Coffee Ice Cream and Bailey%26#39;s Anglaise. Put a fork in us, we were done!
