We arrived in Boston from NYC as the first part of our big American Adventure in which we spent the whole month of September in the USA.
BOSTON
Tues 6th Sept
We drove from NYC to Boston, stopping en-route in Mystic Seaport.
After getting a little lost in the Boston one-way system, we finally found our hotel – The Copley Square which was very nice.
After changing for dinner, we wandered around Copley Square and along Newbury Street eventually finding a little Italian restaurant.
_________
Wed 7th Sept
We spent the morning on a whale watching tour with Boston Harbour Cruises. It was great, saw a few whales on the trip – finbacks, minkes and best of all, a humpback. We returned to the harbour and then headed off to Boston Common to start the Boston Freedom Trail.
Unfortunately, we didn’t leave ourselves much time to fully take in all the sites as it was getting onto 6.00pm by the time we finished.
In the evening, we ventured over to Quincy’s Market area.
_________
Thurs 8th Sept
We decided to leave Boston for the day and venture up through Massachusetts, Maine and into New Hampshire just taking in the scenery. We stopped off in Salem and visited the Witch Museum which was fun. Then we drove up to Portsmouth and then onto York to visit the beach, although by the time we got there it was overcast and a bit chilly.
We ate dinner in Portsmouth and then drove back down to Boston. We wasted a lot of time being on the slow road on the way up but came home of the interstate with time for a nightcap in the hotel bar.
_________
Fri 9th Sept
We left Boston and headed off to Cooperstown and Buffalo to visit Niagara Falls then flew to Las Vegas. From there we went to Yosemite, San Francisco, San Simeon, Los Angeles %26amp; San Diego before returning to the UK on 30th September.

Trip Report: 6nd-9th September 2005 (LONG)Hi Barbiegirl,
You didn%26#39;t say what Italian restaurant you had dinner in on Newbury St., It wasn%26#39;t Davio%26#39;s was it? Do you remember? Although there%26#39;s another really good Italian restaurant on that street, from what I remember.
You certainly covered a lot of territory, that%26#39;s for sure! How did you like Yosemite, CA. Wasn%26#39;t that fantastic! I was there 2 years ago! I thought it was so beautiful seeing it all! Did you drive down to San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle by any chance? That%26#39;s what I ended up doing one day, I was on a mission to see it this time out there! I stayed in Carmel for 3 days and loved every minute of it then drove down to see it from there. What a magnificient road that Big Sur is! I couldn%26#39;t believe it.
Glad to hear about your trip, thanks for sharing it with everyone! When are you planning on returning!
