Texan on an overnight visit

Hello...I am Texas born and raised going to Boston overnight. Any suggestions on must do or see%26#39;s? I will be staying at the Hampton Inn, Revere by the airport.

Well, with so little time it might be hard to choose. If you%26#39;re here in daylight time I would suggest at least a cursory tour via the Freedom Trail. It will give you the highlights of Boston%26#39;s position as the home of the War for Independence. Some of the places to see would be the site of the Boston Massacre, the Granary Burial Grounds, Kings Chapel Burial Ground and The Green Dragon Pub. The latter of course, at the end when you will be in sore need of meal and a pint!

The Massachusetts State House sits atop the hill overlooking the Boston Common (the oldest park in America) and is known as a classic example of Charles Bulfinch%26#39;s Federalist style of architecture.

If you have time, stroll down Charles Street and /or Commonwealth Avenues, both examples of different stages of Boston development.

Charles Street and Beacon Hill offer a quaint, old world look, with small shops and winding narrow streets with gas lamps. At this time of year, decked out in holiday finery, the neighborhood tends to take on a rather Dickensian look.

The Back Bay is elegant and understated, with Mansard roofed townhouses and small gardens. This is a newer section of town (circa 1800s) There is excellent shopping to be had in both neighborhoods.

FYI: Hampton Inn offers free shuttle service to Wood Island Station on the Blue Line. Taxis are able to be gotten if needed.

I would also recommend the JFK library... accessible by the Red Line on the MBTA.

Why are you staying over there if you are coming to Boston

You might as well stay Downtown Boston and enjoy your visit

HOtels Like the Omni Parker House are 10 minutes from Logan Airport and the Omni has the best location in Boston right on the Freedom trail and next to Boston Common and near Macy;s Filene%26#39;s Basement and 2 blocks from Quincy Market Fanueil Hall and more.
