First Trip to Boston
Good morning Nnanwoekcm,
One city that you could visit while in Boston, heading north would be Portsmouth, NH. If you check out www.nhliving.com or www.explorenewengland.com you could get different ideas of upcoming events and attractions going on in this city, as well as any other that you%26#39;d like to see. Portsmouth has Strawbery Banke which is all historical homes to see, it%26#39;s pretty neat. A lot of really different shops to go through and really nice restaurants like the Dunaway Restaurant, 68 State Street Restaurant, Anthony Alberto%26#39;s Italian or the one that is great for lunch that we really like is the Portsmouth Gaslight Pub and Restaurant, you can%26#39;t leave Portsmouth without stopping by here... www.gaslightco.com
If you wanted to head south of Boston you could visit Newport, Rhode Island. Click on www.gonewport.com and it%26#39;ll have what to do, where to go etc...while you%26#39;re there. It%26#39;s probably one of the best Cities to check out other than Boston! Unbelievable shops, restaurants and gorgeous mansions to tour. You%26#39;d be busy here all day long.
You could always check out Salem, MA and get there by commuter train via North Station in Boston. Go to www.salem.org and it%26#39;ll give you all kinds of information about that great city. A lot of things going on there, especially in October, so check it out!
You%26#39;ll be busy when you visit New England! There%26#39;s a lot to see and do, bring a camera and comfortable walking shoes. You%26#39;ll be here during a beautiful time of year, weather wise, right before the snow really starts up! November is when it starts to get really chilly though, so dress in layers, it%26#39;s the start of our winter!
Have fun and keep checking back, they%26#39;ll be other suggestions here as well!
First Trip to Boston
Hello Nnanwoekcm, A trip to Portland Maine (2:15 hours) by the Amtrak Downeaster from North Station in Boston would be a great side trip. You can easily do it in a day. Overnight would assure you seeing everything. The Old Port has several little shops; grap a nice little lunch at Portland Market. Enjoy your trip
Hi nnanwoekcm,
Check out the short drive to Providence RI. If they are having a night of waterfire on the fall weekends it%26#39;s worth the ride. There is alot of history and great restaurants on Federal Hill there. I lived there almost all my life and still find new and exciting places to go. Even in such a small state. A big plus is it%26#39;s only about 40 minutes from Boston.
Cape Cod
Salem
Quincy
for Historic places and sites
or go to the islands
Nantucket or Vineyard
