15 Beacon vs Ritz Boston

I will jump into the anniversary topic also... 25th anniversary on April 11th

We are considering 15 Beacon for the hotel and wondering about that vs the Ritz Boston or the Four Seasons. Any comments would be appreciated.

I actually grew up outside the city and now would like to come back for a fabulous weekend. All the hotels and restaurants seem to have changed. Am looking for a great anniversary dinner and maybe one more great dinner. I have not heard the Federalist mentioned as a suggestion.

Is there a great place in the NOrth End?

Thanks!

In the North End I would go to Mama Maria%26#39;s. Beautiful room, great food, a little pricey but a great choice for a special occasion.

The North End is loaded with great restaurants, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get more suggestions. % North Square has also gotten great reviews, nut I don%26#39;t know if the atmoshpere is as romantic as Mama Maria%26#39;s.

Hi NYClover,

There%26#39;s a really good article about the Federalist Restaurant that this Kellie Speed wrote, I love her travel reviews in the Boston Globe. Here%26#39;s the link...

That looks WONDERFUL there, I think I%26#39;m going to make sure my dinner club knows about THAT one!

Yes, as you know the North End has quite a lot of fabulous restaurants if you want really unbelievable Italian food. I actually tried that Momma Maria%26#39;s on North Sq. recently and it was QUITE good, YES the room it%26#39;s got is much nicer I thought for a couple than the one in the #5 North Sq., every ones different though you know, you might see the one at #5 North and really like it.

A few months ago I was in there for the first time and the first floor as you walk in IS definitely set up for couples and it was set up really really quite nice. The problem with it that night for us was that they plucked 5 of us girls RIGHT smack in the middle of this lovely romantic evening these nice couples were trying to have, it%26#39;s a good thing it was earlier in the night when they just opened! I wanted OUT of there by the end of that night, I%26#39;m telling you! We were being our loud, laughing selves and these poor couples were trying so hard to enjoy their nice quiet romantic dinners and some of them were on first dates you could TELL! My friends and I said that%26#39;s IT, NEVER again, we%26#39;re sitting upstairs from now on when we go to this place! Oh, I%26#39;d definitely go back for dinner some night again though! Their food was without a doubt out of this world, but I%26#39;d absolutely sit upstairs the next time! That staff better not think for ONE minute they%26#39;re plucking us in THAT room again! We were RIGHT there--we were there even when this guy proposed to his girlfriend! It was the cutest thing of course witnessing that and we clapped with the rest of the restaurant and everything, that part was neat, but we still wanted OUT of that dining room by the end of that night, basically because the room was SO small that not only were we crammed in to that ONE room BUT the waiters were hovering around in there WITH us! So now we all look like ';sardines'; in the room! You would have laughed your head off if you saw all of us there that night!

A lot of people like La Summa Restaurant, or Lucca%26#39;s on Hanover St. There%26#39;s the Daily Catch on Hanover, Limoncello%26#39;s on North Sq. is another one that%26#39;s fabulous. There are SO SO many wonderful restaurants in that little area of Boston. I%26#39;ll never ever say I have a favorite one because I always said that each one is just so unique in there own way! Mike%26#39;s Pastry and Modern Pastry are still wonderful there!
